My Favorite People to Coach

Regarding working with people my favorite group to coach are people between the ages of 40 and 50.  The reasons for this are as follows:

1) It’s likely you’ve had ups and downs in life.  When we are young we think we are invisible and can do no wrong.  When we are older we look back and realize we made some mistakes and could have done things better.  In a nutshell you are more likely to be open to suggestions and feedback.

2) You understand pop culture references.  For example If I say “Wax on, wax off” you immediately think of the movie The Karate Kid.  If I say “Rock and roll all night” you will likely say “And party every day” knowing it was a KISS reference.  Understanding these references makes it easier for me to coach you.

3) You often don’ want age to hold you back in life.  I like to think of the movies “The Intern” starring Robert De Niro and “The Internship” starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.  In both movies the stars were the older guys and had to work with younger people.  Just because they were older didn’t mean they weren’t capable and they proved it in this movie. 

Most people who want to work with have learned valuable lessons, have a sense of humor regarding pop culture, and have a sense of urgency that they can not only work but do quality work.  If this is you it’s likely we’ll be a great fit!
